I’ve only fished a few to date. Every season we are finding that more and more true wild steelhead are returning home to the Methow River. Our current winner is the photo below submitted by Brian Whitney. The average fish is about 16″ and I’ve caught a few up to 24″ in the lake. Along the shore line a strike indicator and Chronomids size 16 — 10 are working well. Add in some alpine and sub-alpine lakes with some big trout and you have a perfect place to trout fish in Washington state.

Methow Valley Fly Fishing

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed fishing at the Bogy house lodge two weeks ago. Snake steelhead run a shadow of past years September 17, in Outdoors blog.

A fun place for the family and easily fishable from a boat, Patterson can keep an angler busy for long time. The boat launch area is a good place to cast from shore. I even steelheda fishing with Badaliance and that’s good!

With the size of fish and flies I usually throw a 4-weight on the Chewuch and Twisp and go with either a 4 or 5-weight on the Methow which holds the larger fish. With one of Jeff’s guides Joe Willauer I was able to catch my first steelhead “on the swing” using my new spey casting skills! Jeff Brazda is one of the finest guides I have had the pleasure to fish with, he even had the patience to teach my ADD personality to spey cast.

Time for another meethow report. Enjoy, and tight lines to all — Popamack! I can remember the details as if they happened yesterday. This high mountain lake has a small boat launch and great camping facilities. Jeff, I just wanted to thank you for a memorable steelhead trip. I fish it almost daily during the steelhead season. I learned a lot. All three of these are open in sections from the first Saturday in June until August 15 and then remain open in sections until Sept Biggest fish by Thanksgiving wins please include length.
